Welcome Students to Ladyville Technical Highs School Family! Your transition from childhood to adolescence will be a voyage filled with many experiences. There will be many opportunities and decisions that faces you on a daily basis, which at times may make you may feel overwhelmed. One way you can decrease some of the anxiety for yourselves is if you take some time to meditate, reflect and contemplate on the matters at hand; while staying very focus on your idea of where you would like to go in life. Set priorities as it will enable you to make wise decision in all aspects of life – whether it be considering what extra curricula activities to get involve in, pursuing further education, or the type of job you would like are just a few. Decision such as who you associate or affiliate with and the choice of friends that will influence your life, what you will place on your Facebook page or on other social media are important because those choices can positively or negatively impact the present and the future. Students, it is important to have God be an important part of your lives this will help you to also develop good morals and values and keep every aspect of your life in its proper perspective. Students of LTHS while you are in our care it is our desire to make your high school transition an eventful and enriching one. Your journey with us will provide opportunities for you to explore, develop and become creative, while keeping to the forefront of your mind the LTHS student Profile. (LUX MUNDI – THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD)

Ladyville Technical High School (L.T.H.S) is a Co-ed government school established in 1999. It is governed in accordance with the Ministry of Education Rules and Regulations and managed by a Board of Management, financed by the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports & Technology.  L.T.H.S is located on the former Belize Defence Force’s (B.D.F) Price Barrack compound. 

Ladyville Technical High School’s curriculum includes core subjects in Arts & Sciences and Technical fields to meet the demands of the business world and the economy. Students are afforded the opportunity to specialize in one of five core programs from which there are four technical and one business field.

ELECTRICAL

Over the past few years the Ladyville Technical High School Electrical department has been upgraded to an Industrial Technology course which has integrated a mechanical technology and engineering curriculum to include furniture and building making technology.  The integration of these courses had become necessary to ensure equipped graduates can guarantee the survival of the electrical industry; whereas enhancing the students not only in the electrical field and electronics industry, but also in the mechanical furniture and building making industry.  This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to venture into the job field or further their studies in the related field.

AGRICULTURE

Since 1999 Ladyville Technical High School’s Agriculture department has encouraged small farming in respect to sustainable agriculture. As the school continues to grow so has the interest of the students in the
agriculture program and the increase in CXC passes. The agriculture classes, both theory and
practical, prepare students with appropriate skills to become competitive contributors within the
the much needed and expanding farming community. Through the agriculture program, students learn responsibilities and entrepreneurial experiences along with high standards of self-sustainability for social and economic gains. This subject challenges students in crops and animal husbandry where students process poultry, grade eggs, inoculate animals and harvest and package crops and small stock products.

HOSPITALITY

Hospitality Management program is to prepare students with the culinary knowledge and practical skills needed to be career-ready for entry-level culinary-prep positions including sanitation and safety, nutrition, human relations skills, use of large and small equipment, purchasing, receiving, inventory and storage, and varied food preparation.
Hospitality Management equips graduates with the skills needed to work in the world’s leading businesses such as: boutique hotels, resorts, luxury day spas, restaurants and the travel industry – they all need world-class management.

BUSINESS

The business department at Ladyville Technical High School focuses on the theoretical and
practical aspects of business activities. The teachers provide a framework to assist in more
informed decision-making to students in their role of producers or consumers. An understanding
of business, accounting, and office administration principles in this program of study prepares
students to become contributing members to our rapidly growing business community. The department provides opportunities for students to develop accounting, entrepreneurial and managerial skills necessary to survive and prosper in a local, regional, and global dynamic business environment. It also engages students in conducting research which helps to improve their communication and critical thinking skills. It creates an awareness of business ethics and social and economic responsibilities which improves the management of personal financial activities to participate more effectively and responsibly in today’s business environment.

CONSTRUCTION

Ladyville Technical High School’s Construction program is designed to assist students in discovering, developing and nurturing the principles and techniques of Construction. This program equips students with skills and expertise to respond to the technical/vocational training needs of the region, provides students with an opportunity to understand the interrelationships among technologies, equipment, processes, materials and systems related to industry and provides a legitimate alternative for students who aspire for careers in Industrial Technology areas. Upon completion of this course, students will be equipped to either venture into the industrial field or seek further tertiary level education.

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION

  1. In order to be recognized for admission into Ladyville Technical High, a student must successfully complete primary school (STD VI) and likewise sat the Primary School Examination (PSE) obtaining a minimum average of 60%.
  2. Prospective applicants must complete and submit an Application for Admission form to the Principal’s office no later than the last Friday in May within the same examination year along with their Standard V and VI report cards, a copy of their Birth Paper, a valid Social Security Card and a non-refundable application fee of $10.00.
  3. Transferees are welcome providing that space is available.  They should provide evidence of good conduct and satisfactory academic performance through letters of recommendation from the principal, school counsellor and homeroom teacher. The students and at least one of their parents/guardians should attend an interview with the Principal if required.  (Bearing in mind that the school reserves the right to refuse admittance to any student who was dismissed because of misconduct or poor performance.)
  4. Letters of acceptance from the Principal’s Office will be forwarded to all successful applicants.  
  5. ALL students are required to register before the beginning of the new school year so as to secure their seat.
  6. Payment for fees is to be done at any Atlantic Bank branch. Parents/Guardian should present receipt to the school’s business office to complete the registration process. Students are required to be accompanied by their parents/guardians for registration.  A copy of the school rules, book list, badges and a sample of the school’s uniform pattern will be made available to all new students.
  7. Students and parents of new intake including transferees must attend an orientation session in full Ladyville Technical High School uniform prior to the commencement of classes to discuss school rules.

PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

It is the belief of the Ladyville Technical High School family that every student, and by extension all human beings, are social creatures by nature. Therefore they need to be provided with a sense of belonging and association. In addition, they are emotional, spiritual, and intellectual creatures of God that must be nurtured in accordance with principles such as morality, good character, respect, responsibility and discipline. Our institution strives continuously to instill these qualities in all students for their personal development and in providing productive citizens for the country of Belize.
